At around 2:15pm today the Terryville Fire Department and EMS were called to a construction site on Route 112 just north of Bicycle Path after a worker fell 14 feet into the basement of a building under construction and was seriously injured.

The victim was in and out of consciousness and needed to be secured and removed from the hole. The chief requested a response from the Brookhaven Technical Rescue Task Force which responded with units from Selden FD and Setauket FD. Suffolk Police Emergency Services units were also called to the scene.

The victim was stabilized, then lifted from the hole, and taken to an awaiting police helicopter for airlift to Stony Brook University Hospital.  Suffolk Police, in a statement, say the victim is listed in serious condition.
