At around 12:30am Suffolk Police attempted to pull over a vehicle in the Holbrook area after it struck multiple parked vehicles and was driving erratically in the area of Patchogue-Holbrook Rd.
The vehicle, with an adult female driver, fled into an apartment complex off Hans Blvd., and after being cornered, an officer approached the vehicle on foot and attempted to break the driver’s window when she accelerated nearly striking the officer. The woman fled south bound across Portion Rd. on Patchogue-Holbrook Rd. with officers pursuing.
The chase was mostly under the speed limit and at one point the woman rammed a 5th pct unit multiple times in the rear of the police vehicle. She continued south for multiple miles, even passing directly in front of the Suffolk Police 5th pct. After police deployed “stop sticks” the vehicle lost air in multiple tires but continued south on Waverly Ave where she crashed into the rear of an Emergency Services truck.
She was taken into custody but transported by EMS after police determined she was suffering from a “medical event”. There were no injuries reported.
