At around 9pm the N. Amityville Fire Department was called to a house on Ronek Dr. after a reported house fire. It appears the fire was in the basement and the first chief on scene was able to remove an adult female and a young child from the house. The child was taken to an awaiting Suffolk Police Medevac helicopter and airlifted to the burn center at Stony Brook University Hospital. The adult female was rushed by ground ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center. Both are suffering from severe lower body burns.
The fire was quickly knocked down and brought under control in about 45 minutes. The Suffolk Arson Squad was requested to the scene for an investigation.
