At around 11:15pm Sunday night Suffolk Police were called to the corner of Schenectady Ave and Essex St. after reports of shots fired in a residential neighborhood.
Multiple pedestrians were witnessed fleeing west bound from the incident towards Straight Path. Upon checking on the victim, still inside the vehicle, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police searched the area with K9 units but no arrests were made. The area was blocked off as homicide squad detectives were called to the scene for the investigation.
There were reports of an attempted robbery but police at the scene would not comment at this time.
