At around 5:15pm Friday night the Saint James Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire on Evans Ct., in the Village of Head of the Harbor.
Upon arrival units were met with heavy fire in a sprawling estate style home with fire already through the roof. Multiple neighboring departments were called in for assistance in fighting the fire. It took over 2 hours to bring the fire under control.
No civilians were home at the time of the fire but two firefighters were injured during the operation. Luckily their injuries are not serious in nature.
The Town of Smithtown Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene to determine the origin of the fire.
