A fast moving storm traversed Long Island Sunday night bringing torrential rain and high winds. The National Weather Service issued multiple tornado warnings just after 9pm. As of yet there have been no reported sightings or touch downs of a tornado. Most of the severe weather had left the island at around 11:30pm.
Straight line winds are believed to be responsible for bringing down dozens of trees which in turn brought down PSEG lines causing localized power outages. PSEG crews and contractors were out in force during and after the storm to begin repairs.
