At around 2:30am Suffolk Police and Brookhaven FD were called to 27 Mastic Rd. West after a report of a possible structure fire.
Upon arrival officer found a small outside fire and a male with severe burns to his hands and body who was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.
After the fire was quickly extinguished a body was located at the scene. Suffolk Police Homicide Squad was called in and has been investigating the scene.
No official word on cause of death of the victim. The body was removed to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy.
