A driver, with 2 passengers, led police on a chase overnight and ended after the driver turned onto the LIRR tracks in Holtsville.

Police were investigating at least one break in at the T-Mobile Store in Bohemia in which someone smashed in the front window and stole merchandise from the store.  This may be part of a pattern of similar incidents in the county.  While searching the area a 5th precinct officer noticed a vehicle fitting the description of one in the area of the smash and grab.

The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over in the Patchogue area but that driver fled from police.  Multiple units followed as well as the police helicopter that was in the area due searching.  During the chase the driver attempted to ram officers.  The officers backed off while the car was being tracked by the aviation unit overhead.

While heading north on Blue Point Rd. the vehicle, mistakenly, turned onto the Long Island Rail Road tracks and quickly became disabled. Police were able to take all of the occupants of the vehicle into custody without further incident.

Detectives and crime scene units were called to both scenes and at this time no further information is available on the connection to this, or other, cell phone store burglaries.
