Suffolk County Police last night arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Coram.

Jason Hank was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla northbound on Route 112, approximately 1,000 feet south of Pine Road, when the vehicle struck an adult male pedestrian in the roadway at approximately 9:35 p.m.

The victim, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle did not remain at the scene but was located a short time later at a residence on Old Town Rd.

Major Case Unit detectives charged Hank, 24, of Port Jefferson Station, with Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on October 13.
