On February 11, 2021 at 10:05 PM the Riverhead Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the area of 953 West Main Street Riverhead, New York.
Upon police arrival it was confirmed a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle and was in serious physical condition. The victim was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The operator of the vehicle, Matthew Nemschick, 54 years of age from Mattituck, NY was arrested at the scene for DWI and transported The Riverhead Police Department. The Riverhead Police Department Detective Division and the New York State Accident Reconstruction Team were notified and responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
