Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Port Jefferson Station tonight.
A man was attempting to cross Nesconset Highway when he was struck by a 2019 Honda at 7:39 p.m. A 2013 Volkswagen then struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Detectives have not identified the victim.
The driver of the Honda, 30, of Port Jefferson Station, and driver of the Volkswagen, 42, of Miller Place were not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.

In a previous version of this story it was stated that a Jeep at the scene was one of the vehicles that struck the pedestrian. That was incorrect, the Jeep stopped at the scene to assist police in their investigation.
