At around 2pm Suffolk Police and Bay Shore FD/EMS were called to the intersection of the Sunrise Highway Service Road and Manor Lane in Bay Shore after a home heating oil delivery tanker truck slammed into the rear of a school bus and rolled over.
Luckily there were no students on board the bus at the time of the crash. The driver of the truck was trapped inside for a short period of time. There were no reported serious injuries in this crash.
The Town of Islip Hazardous Materials Unit was called to the scene to assist in the off load and clean up of spilled oil. The roadway was closed down for an extended period of time due to the cleanup of the scene.
No word on what caused the crash.
