Early this morning the Farmingville Fire Department was called to a home near the intersection of Woodycrest Dr. and Pineaire Ave., after fire broke out in a 2 story home.

A passing firefighter was reported to have evacuated the occupants of the home, who were uninjured.

The fire quickly spread and engulfed the house causing the PSEG power line to detach from the house and fall into the front yard.  Some firefighters operating at the fire came into contact with the electrified water and were shocked by the line.  Their injuries were not considered life threatening. Another firefighter was struck by a stream of water and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Numerous area departments were called to the scene to assist in bringing the fire under control, which took about an hour.  The house was badly damaged.

The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
