Just after midnight the Islip Terrace Fire Department got multiple calls to a house on Carleton Ave with smoke and flames coming from the home and possible occupants trapped inside as well as pets.

Upon arrival units were met with heavy fire throughout the large multi-family home. Fire Eventually made it’s way into the attic and through the roof causing a collapse of the roof into the 2nd floor. Firefighters were forced to into an exterior attack due to the danger.

Eventually all occupants, well over a dozen, were accounted for outside of the structure. No serious injuries were reported. The fire took over 2 hours to bring under control.  Multiple surrounding departments and EMS companies were called to the scene to assist.

The Town of Islip Fire Marshal’s office and Suffolk Arson Squad were called to the scene for an investigation into the origin of the fire.  No word on the fate of any pets at this time.
