At around 2am the Bayport Fire Department was called to 312 Terrace Rd. in the Fairfield Apartment Complex after smoke and fire was reported from the rear of a building.
Suffolk Police were first on scene and began evacuating the fire involved units and then adjacent units.
Bayport FD along with numerous mutual aid departments were on scene quickly and worked to limit the fire damage to 2 apartments but the attached units were damaged by smoke and water.
The roof above the fire involved unit collapsed into the structure. Luckily no injuries were reported.
The Fire Marshal and Suffolk Arson Squad will investigate the cause of the fire.
