Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Islandia this morning.
A male was riding a 2013 Ducati motorcycle eastbound on Motor Parkway when he was struck by a westbound 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe as the driver, attempted to make a left turn onto Veterans Memorial Highway at approximately 7 a.m. The collision caused the motorcyclist and his motorcycle to roll under a 2015 Ford F-750 that was stopped at the intersection.
The rider, 42, of Central Islip, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 23, of Hauppauge, and the driver of the Ford, 40, of Center Moriches, were not injured.
The Hyundai and Ducati were impounded for safety checks. A safety check was performed on the Ford by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers at the scene and the vehicle was released to the owner.
