Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a 31-year-old North Amityville man was shot and critically injured Sunday night.

Jerry Isme was a front seat passenger in a motor vehicle that was making a left turn from Garfield Street onto Washington Avenue when several shots were fired into the vehicle at approximately 10:25 p.m. Isme was struck multiple times. Isme was the only passenger in the vehicle and the driver was not injured.

The driver transported Isme to the North Amityville Fire Department. A fire department ambulance then transported Isme to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

Police located several shell casings at the scene and secured both locations.
