Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a man in Wyandanch this afternoon.

A group of teenagers engaged in a fight on Jamaica Avenue, between 32nd Street and 31st Street, at approximately 2:05 p.m. Adult family members of the teenagers responded to the scene and became involved in the altercation. During the fight, a 41-year-old Wyandanch man was shot in the cheek by another man.

The victim was transported by Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
