The driver of the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, Joseph Norris, is being charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
On Friday November 20, 2020, at approximately 7:29 pm, there was a two-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of the Sunken Meadow State Parkway, north of exit SM3, in the town of Smithtown, Suffolk County.
A pickup truck was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck an SUV traveling northbound in the northbound lanes.
The driver of the SUV died at the scene and the driver of the pickup truck was transported to Southside Hospital with serious injuries.
The Sunken Meadow State Parkway was closed northbound and traffic was being diverted at exit SM3.
The cause of the collision is under investigation and the State Police is asking for anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
