This afternoon just before 1pm the Bellport Fire Department was called to a reported house fire on Association Rd. just off of Station Rd.
Upon arrival units were met with heavy fire coming from the front windows of a single story home. A car was parked in the driveway so it was unknown whether an occupant was still inside the house. Firefighters made entry and searched the house but found no occupants.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour with assistance from surrounding departments.
The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal and Suffolk Arson Squad will investigate the origin of the fire.
