At around 5pm the Selden Fire Department was called to a house on Abinet Ct. after a report of a house fire.
Upon arrival units were met with heavy fire from the house and a fully engulfed camper in the driveway. The occupants of the house were able to evacuate without injury but a dog was still unaccounted for. A Suffolk County Police Officer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with unspecified injuries during the fire. The dog was rescued and rushed to Selden Emergency Animal Hospital by a Suffolk Police vehicle for treatment.
Multiple area fire departments were called to the scene to assist. The fire was brought under control in approximately one hour.
The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshal and Suffolk Arson Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
