Just before 4pm the Lakeland FD was called for heavy smoke and flames coming from a house on Joan St. in Ronkonkoma with unknown occupants inside.
Upon arrival units were met with flames from the side of the house and heavy smoke pushing from all sides of the large 2 story home.
Firefighters forced their way into the home and worked to extinguish the blaze. It appears the occupants were not home at this time. Multiple surrounding departments assisted and the fire was brought under control in about 1 hour.
Town Fire Marshal was notified to respond for an investigation into the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
