At around 10:40pm last night the North Amityville Fire Company was called to 60 East Smith St. for a reported fire in a 2 story home.
Upon arrival units were met with heavy smoke and fire that appears to have originated in the attached garage. Fire and smoke spread to the main portion of the house which suffered moderate damage.
The occupants were able to evacuate and there were no injuries reported. The fire was brought under control in about an hour.
The Suffolk Arson Squad was called in for an investigation into the cause of the fire.
