Suffolk County Police last night arrested a woman for leaving the scene of a crash that seriously injured a man in Holtsville.
A woman was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra southbound on North Ocean Avenue when the vehicle struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway at approximately 10:20 p.m. She continued driving away from the scene.
The victim, a 50-year-old Medford man, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
A witness to the crash followed the vehicle as she drove to her residence, located on La Bonne Vie Drive, in East Patchogue. The witness called 911 and police officers arrested the driver at her home.
Sixth Squad detectives charged the woman, 71, with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Involving Serious Physical Injury. She will be arraigned at a later date.
