According to police, at 06:31 a.m. Southampton Town Police dispatchers received a 911 call reference a seal off Woodhull Road in the Thrifty Beverage parking lot. Patrol officers responded and the seal fled Southwest in the direction of the Budget Host Motel. Officers surrounded the seal and identified it as a juvenal Harbor Seal.
The animal was detained by patrol officers and taken into custody by the Riverhead Foundation. The seal is being evaluated and cared for by the Riverhead foundation and will be released at a future date.
