Suffolk County Police arrested a nanny for stealing jewelry from her employer during the last month.
Amparo Hoyos Garcia, who worked as a nanny for a family on Grassy Pond Drive in Smithtown, stole more than $15,000 worth of jewelry from the residence between December 22 and January 19.
Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Hoyos Garcia, 69, of Patchogue, was arrested on January 19 and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. She was scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
Hoyos Garcia also works for other families as a nanny and cleaning houses.
