Suffolk County Police today arrested a Hempstead man for driving while intoxicated after he drove the wrong way on Sunrise Highway and caused a fatal motor vehicle crash.
Noel Pastora was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota westbound in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway, west of Locust Avenue, in Oakdale when his vehicle struck an eastbound sedan at 1:49 a.m.
The driver of the sedan, 73, of Sayville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pastora, 56, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He will be held at the Fifth Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 27.
