This morning, just before 10:30,  Suffolk Police, Bayport FD and EMS along with MTA LIRR Police were called to the Montauk Branch of the Long Island Railroad in the area of Bayport Ave after a car was struck by a train.

The driver was heavily entrapped in the car and it took nearly 20 minutes to cut the vehicle apart to access the patient. The victim was rushed to Stony Brook University Medical Center unresponsive and in very serious condition.

The Montauk line was shut down so investigators from MTA LIRR could conduct an investigation. No word if today’s nasty weather played a role in the crash.
