Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Melville early this morning.
A man was driving a 2011 Mitsubishi northbound on Route 110 when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2016 Isuzu box truck that was parked on the shoulder at Ruland Road at 4:03 a.m.
The driver, 35, of Massapequa Park, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck, 39, of Medford, was not injured.
Motor Carrier Safety Section officers inspected the box truck at the scene. The Mitsubishi was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
