Ronkonkoma, NY- A rough start for dozens of residents of an apartment building this morning after flames ripped through multiple units and badly damaged the entire structure.
It started around 10:40am this morning at the Colony Park Apartment Complex on Peconic St. Calls flooded in to the Lakeland Fire Department of smoke and flames coming from the large 2 story building which houses multiple units.
Upon arrival units immediately began evacuating all the apartments in the building. Fire had worked it’s way into the common attic space and traveled to the end of the building. Firefighters from multiple departments were called to the scene to assist and bring the fire under control. Firefighters could be seen removing small pets from the smoke filled apartments adjacent to the fire.
No injuries were reported. Fire Marshals and Suffolk Arson Squad have been on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
