North Babylon, NY- A crash between a Suffolk Police 1st precinct car and an SUV ended with the SUV crashing into a house and catching fire.

One officer was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center for injuries and a 2nd was also reportedly being treated for minor injuries.  The vehicle which caught fire damaged the home it struck on Elkton Lane at the corner of Woods Rd.  Firefighters were on scene quickly and extinguished the fire.

Two men inside the vehicle fled on foot from the crash. One was caught immediately near the scene while the other was able to elude officers.  Police were searching the area with a helicopter and K9 units.  At this time there is an unconfirmed report that the second perp was captured by police.

The are was closed while crime scene units and 1st squad detectives conducted an investigation.

No word on if the vehicle was fleeing police at the time of the crash.
