Just before 11pm Suffolk County Police and Islip Terrace Fire Department were called to 87 Carleton Avenue in Islip Terrace after a vehicle lost control, jumped the curb and slammed through the side of the building.
The vehicle came to rest completely inside the building where it struck displays of nail supplies. The driver was able to self extricate from the vehicle and then the building through the hole in the block wall made by the car on the way in.
There were no serious injuries.
The Town of Islip Building Department was notified to respond to the scene to check on any structural damage. The business, Maika’s Nail Supply, was closed at the time of the crash.
