Five people were killed and one was critically injured after a crash in Quogue Saturday night.

According to Quogue Village Police, the crash took place at 11:19 p.m. near the intersection of Montauk Highway and Quogue Street. A Nissan Maxima was heading west on Montauk Highway when it crashed head-on with a Toyota Prius that was traveling east on Montauk Highway. Speed may have been a factor in the crash according to police.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene and another died a short time later at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Another person was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Quogue Village Police detectives with the help of NY State Troopers and SHTPD. The identification of those who died is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
