On the same day Suffolk Police announced an initiative to combat the increasing number of fatalities on Suffolk County roadways another 2 pedestrians were struck and killed.

The first happened on Middle Country Rd. in Selden at 6:34pm near Adirondack Dr. after a pedestrian was struck by 2 vehicles. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 2nd victim was killed only minutes later on William Floyd Parkway near Roberts Rd. at 6:53pm. The Jeep that struck the victim remained at the scene.

Both accidents are under investigation by 6th squad detectives and 7th squad detectives respectively.

This morning a woman was also killed on William Floyd Parkway in a single car crash into a parked car. That brings the daily total to 3 people killed in about 10 hours.
