The Brentwood Fire Department was alerted to a house fire at 31 Stockton Street in Brentwood on Saturday just before 1:00pm.
Upon arrival firefighters were confronted with a heavy fire condition in a single-story home which was damaging an adjoining house. Multiple neighboring departments were called to the scene to assist. Brentwood Legion Ambulance was treating a resident of the home for smoke inhalation at the scene. The fire was brought under control in under an hour. One home was completely gutted and another was damaged by radiant heat from the fire.
The Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Islip Town Fire Marshal’s office were called to the scene to investigate the cause.
